1. What is English Chapter?
Our role begins with building the foundations via teaching your child to develop a love for reading. Basic reading and writing skills are developed through an effective learning method that emphasizes a lot on thinking and expressing oneself.
2. What does your tagline Nurturing Young Creative Minds mean?
We believe that children should be nurtured and given the right tools when they are young. With the right tools, they can reach for the stars.
Introducing them to classic books from a young age and at different stages of their childhood, allows them to grow progressively and discover stories beyond their wildest imaginations.
We aim to lay a solid foundation to help them achieve better thinking skills.
3. Is English Chapter a tuition centre or an English language centre?
We are non-of the above. We do not tuition the children that attend our programme, instead we nurture their reading, writing, thinking and expressing skills.
4. Do you emphasize on grammar?
We do not emphasize on grammar , however, we do not neglect it, as it is a requirement for a child to be able to construct basic sentences. Our emphasis lies on heavy reading and writing.
5. How is the class environment for my child?
Our lessons are developed to be fun and interactive, providing a 100% environment in English for your child to speak, listen, think and communicate in this desired language.
6. How do I enrol my child in your centre?
All you have to do is call any of our centres to make an appointment for a quick assessment, in order for us to plan the placement entry.
7. Are there any written reports on my child’s progress given to us?
No, this is because every child is unique in his/her own way and it would be difficult to grade our children by means of a report. Therefore, a progress meet is required every 4-6 months between our parents and our Programme Director to touch base on the child’s development.
8. What is the most appropriate age to start my child?
The best time to start any child in our programmes would be at age 4 or whenever the child is emotionally ready after the age of 3. The ready child would have learned to understand simple instructions, be ready to socialize and officially toilet-trained.
9. How does your mentor conduct the classes?
Generally, our mentors conduct the class in a fun way and the most basic thing of all is their attitude to the English language. This attitude towards language is generated by sitting with the children, reading, telling stories, singing, talking about the stories, asking questions and having fun answering.
The child will then grow up with a basic sense that language is fun. At English Chapter, our children enjoy being around because they are exposed to talking and sharing things, rhymes and songs, riddles and drama, speeches and debates.
Basically, an environment where they are able to express their thoughts and opinions freely.
10. Tell me more about your transportation?
Our van transportation services ensures the safe pick up and return of your child up to your doorsteps for the convenience of our working parents. Our charges are very minimal and it just about covers the cost of maintaining the vans & our drivers.
11. Is your centre open on weekends?
As much as we would like to accommodate all our request for weekend classes , we are unable to do so as we believe in ensuring that our staff are all well rested for the weekend and be fully charged to motivate our children for the rest of the week.
12. Why can’t my child attend a once a week class?
Through experience, we have learnt that a once a week programme is not enough to do the job of nurturing the child to master the spoken and written English language. More so, if the home environment does not encourage the habit of reading and the use of the language.
