The Opening Chapter

Activate and nurture your child’s imaginations, confidence and creativity.  Learn how we take your child through the various chapters of learning.

Chapter 1: Reading

Our role here begins with teaching your child to develop a love and joy for reading. By doing so,
we hope to create a life-long reading habit which will enable them to learn and absorb information better. The English Chapter’s method remains holistic and uses a specially designed phonics system to guide your child’s reading abilities.

Reading will allow your child to not only master the language but also begin a journey filled with adventures. Their knowledge and imaginations would have no boundaries. Their natural curiosity will be empowered by the joy of learning.

Our extensive booklist consist of simple classics to great literatures. The English Chapter has also started developing a series of localised stories to help your child relate better to the stories they read.

Chapter 2: Creative Thinking

Memorising is not thinking – unfortunately, the habit of memorising instead of nurturing and digesting information is cultivated in today’s academic system. This might help your child achieve good grades but it might also diminish your child’s ability to think independently and progressively.

The English Chapter aims to close the gap between memorising and actually learning. We aim to lay a solid foundation to help them think better. Our approach is to encourage children to explore via books and characters in the books. They will also be taught to analyse plots, characters and subtle meanings/themes within a book.

Independent and progressive thinking will lead to a natural increase of self-confidence that will allow your child to explore ideas and possibilities naturally in their lives.

Chapter 3: Creative Writing

Articulate in speech, articulate in writing.
The English Chapter will offer your child the opportunity to express themselves through writing. Our comprehensive programme includes developing your child’s writing abilities through narrative essays, creative writing, story writing, language exercise and much more.

We believe in creating a comfortable and confident environment to allow even the most bashful child to express themselves through writing. Your child will have the perfect environment to practice, learn and enjoy writing in a variety of styles – all aimed to help your child express their thoughts and ideas.

Chapter 4: Elocution

Elocution is a way in which rich oral language is developed. It is an engaging and a playful way for children to hear, identify and experiment themselves. They learn to pronounce words easily by saying them over and over again and by practicing them without effort. This art of public speaking instils in children a positive self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly.

Chapter 5: Story Telling

Through our story telling, children are highly motivated and engaged. The vocabulary, grammar, articulation and listening skills are highly evident. Children simultaneously practice pitch, volume and voice inflection while experiencing the rhythm of language. Story telling promotes positive attitudes towards language learning and helps children to build an awareness of the sound patterns of the English language.

Chapter 6: Drama

Our drama engages and challenges children to express their ideas through their speech and movements. It takes courage and flexibility to combine talking, listening and performing. Regardless of their skills, children will develope their communication skills and performance skills in their own way and time.
