Overcoming Timidness

Darren our son was a very shy boy. Timid and does not express himself well. He was term as a slow leaner by his standard 3 tuition teacher. In fact, I was so heart broken when she told me he was beyond help and that he slowed down the rest of the class when I appealed to her for extra half an hour before or after class to help him out. As a mother, I was devastated. The teacher “Gave up hope on him”. I knew my son needed help. He refused to open his mouth to ask his class teacher or tuition teacher questions. He was a below average student in a chinese school.

When I came to know that English Chapter is considering opening a centre in Klang, I convinced them that “Yes” we need this kind of centre. Glad Juliet & David agreed. Am so glad they took the trouble to identify what was Darren’s problem. Within a year, he improved…2nd year he started to shine.
In his 3rd year he became a “Shining Star”. He did well for his UPSR and scored 5A’s. In PMR he scored 7A’s. He did well in his Form 5 exam recently, obtaining straight As for all subject. Even though I moved from Klang to Setia Eco Park, I let him continue to be nurtured by them. At different stages of his life, they impacted him differently. Ever since then, I look forward to go to school for his yearly report card. All the teachers are always full of praises for him.

The changes we see in him could not have been achieved without ENGLISH CHAPTER.

Soon after we saw the changes with Darren, we enrolled our 2nd child Charlene with English Chapter too. What I like about her is “She is always reading something”. She is either reading a book or an ebook. She enjoys the many outings that was organised by English Chapter. She learned many things about facts of life too esp “what a teenager is suppose to do and not do”. She debates with us a lot at home too.
It took me three years to convince English Chapter to open up a branch here in Setia Alam as
I have seen the benefits not only for my children but the children of my many friends whom I have strongly recommended.

Building Confidence for Leadership

My son, Yu Cheng, did very well in his audition to earn a golden ticket to this year’s SPARK: Ignite Your Potential Leadership Camp organized by Leaderonomics, a social enterprise dedicated to helping individuals reach their full potential as leaders.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in English Chapter for their great effort. Yu Cheng started his journey with English Chapter from the age of 6 and he has enjoyed his journey for the past 10 years.

English Chapter is a great learning centre.
